Chat Rules

Breaking any one of the chat rules will get you banned, sometimes with warning, sometimes without.

1. No posting of nudity, porn, or hentai.
When we say nudity, porn, or hentai, we mean any age restricted content from any source. This rule includes: no posting of images or video containg explicit adult content and no linking to or mentioning specifically of any age-restricted websites. You may or may not be given warning if you break this rule before being banned.

2. No posting of any gore or excessively violent content.
Linking/posting of any images/video that contains any excessively violent, bloody, or gory content will get you banned, and you may or may not be warned before being banned for breaking this rule, depending on the situation.

3. No linking.
No linking or naming explicitly any sites that host streaming anime. Also known as the No Advertising rule. You will generally be warned before being banned for breaking this rule. This applies to sites that break the above rules also. Anybody who posts a website that is suspected to be scam will be banned or warned depending on the level of intent.

4. No Spamming/No Flooding.
You will generally be warned before being banned for breaking this rule. Spamming is repeating the same thing over and over again, whether in rapid succession or not. Flooding is posting your messages so fast that no one else gets a chance to speak - If you're filling up the entire screen with you're own posts, chances are you're flooding. Slow down and type a whole sentence before hitting the Enter key. Also please do not post walls of text in the same message.

5. NO SPOILING.
You will be warned one time before you are banned and your post will be deleted for breaking this rule. Spoiling is when someone reveals vital plot points of an anime, manga, light novel, visual novel, or other entertainment medium of interest to the people who visit this chat. Don't ruin the story in question for those who have not yet seen it. It isn't funny, and doing it to other people won't make you any friends around here - especially among the staff. Please be vague in your conversation about the story in question and if you want to have an in-depth discussion please take the conversation to private message.

6. This is an English only chat.
Due to the frequent occurrence of people speaking other languages coming into the chat and breaking the #5 No Spoiling rule, as well as other rules, we must insist that conversation be in English only. If mods cannot understand what is being said, they cannot enforce the rules. We honestly don't mind if your English is bad, consider it good practice!

7. Leave your chat bot at home.
Due to problems in the past with bots mining/storing information and spamming the chat - any bots will be banned on sight. If you are the operator you may also be banned in the crossfire if the bot has the same IP as you.

Chat Policies

Not abiding the following policies are less likely to get you banned, but still may lead to a ban, depending on the situation. Multiple violations, having a bad attitude, provoking arguments, etc., as well as positive conversation contribution, general good humor, and overall friendliness, etc., are all taken into account when a decision is being made on how harshly to apply the any of the rules or policies.

1. Don't Bypass Censored Words.
If you find something you say has been censored in chat, don't try to get around it by typing it one letter at a time or by any other means. If it has been censored, it was for a good reason, and being difficult about it is only causing problems in the chat. If you accidentally bypass something, your post will be deleted. If you would like an explanation, please feel free to contact any of the chat moderators in private messages.

2. Don't Bully or Harass People.
A good troll is priceless, and hard to find, as well as endlessly funny. But a good troll is never a bully, and never picks on anyone. If you are told to back off, back off. Or you will be banned off. Racism and/or sexism, especially, will not be tolerated in the chat.

3. Discussion of Religion and/or Politics.
Generally speaking, these topics are frowned upon, as they can cause some pretty heated flame wars in the chat. If a mod steps in and asks everyone to change the subject, please do so as quickly as possible, as he/she is only doing so to keep the peace in the chat.

4. Role-playing.
A little light-hearted role-play is fine, but we draw the line when people start bankai-ing each other or pulling out their jutsu.

5. Please don't abuse the mods.
It's alright to criticize the mods, but not just because you want to continue doing something they are asking you to stop doing after they've already explained why you have to stop, ...and certainly not when you weren't being spoken to in the first place. If you have been banned, and would like to appeal the ban, the first person to speak to is the mod that banned you; try private messaging them, and don't be rude about it. You don't have to kiss their butt, but don't be impolite, either. We have a strict rule for our mods against unbanning other mods' bans without speaking to the mod than made the ban initially. Any formal complaints of mod power abuse can be submitted through private message to xshukujox or undyingdreamz.

Final Suggestions

The following are strongly suggested, but not abiding by these won't get you banned outright in the majority of cases. If you're going to go against these suggestions, don't be surprised if people seem to be ignoring you or complain to you in chat.

1. Text Visibility.
Don't just ignore it when people say they can't read your font. Also, remember the chat is linked to three different sites, as well as the big chat, which have both light and dark colored backgrounds. When in doubt - ask the people in chat to verify that your font can be seen. Although they will usually tell you themselves if there is an issue. You might also want to note that speaking in full caps and/or underline gets annoying quite quickly.

2. Cloning chatango accounts.
Please do not log into multiple chatango accounts on separate browsers and talk to yourself in chat. This is fine if it is a sibling using a different computer with the same IP address. But if you are pretending you don't know the other person - the mods will point out to everyone that you have the same IP and everyone will laugh at you.

THE ONE RULE TO RULE THEM ALL
Any behavior found to be too disruptive to the chat in general, whether or not it is specifically denoted here, is grounds for banning. In such cases, it is likely you will be warned multiple times, so do not take such warnings lightly, as none of our mods enjoy banning anyone under these circumstances. In other words: we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
